Grizzlies Get Win Over Mustangs

Freshman Kim Clark
With two big pushes in the second half, WNMU still could not get by the Adams State Grizzlies Friday evening. The Mustangs fall to 0-13 on the season after a 79-66 loss.

Adams State improves to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

Down by 17 (58-41) with 14:20 left to play in the game, the Mustangs went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to nine. The lead stretched to 13 (62-49) with 7:57 on the clock, but WNMU put together another rally to put the Grizzly lead at only seven. That was the closest the purple and gold could get though.

Kim Clark (Santee, CA, West Hills High School) finished with 15 points to lead the Mustangs. Morgan Wohltman (Queen Creek, AZ, Highland High School, Idaho State University) and Jaleesa Russell (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School) posted 14 each. Russell, a freshman, has had her share of foul trouble this season and has now fouled out in seven of her last nine games.

Kristina Barr (San Diego, CA, La Costa Canyon High School, Central Community College) recorded four assists and four steals in the loss.

For Adams, Vera Jo Bustos went 7 for 11 from the field for 18 points. Briana Benajmin finished 14 points.
