WNMU shot only .278 (20-72) from the field at Colorado School of Mines tonight as the Mustangs suffered their 12th loss of the season, 85-58.
WNMU remained with the Orediggers for the first 13 minutes of the game and held a two-point lead after a
Kim Clark (Santee, CA, West Hills High School) three-pointer. Mines closed out the half with a 9-2 run in the final two minutes, though, to walk into the locker room with a 38-29 advantage.
Mines then outscored WNMU, 47-29, in the second stanza to post the convincing win.
Morgan Wohltman (Queen Creek, AZ, Highland High School, Idaho State University) and
Jaleesa Russell (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School) both had 16 points. Wohltman has led the Mustangs in points the last four games. Russell went to the free throw line 10 times and made four in the loss but also posted her fair share of fouls as she fouled out after 21 minutes of play.
Christa Kennedy (Soldatna, AK, Soldatna High School) led the way on the boards with six rebounds. Five of those were on the offensive end. She also recorded three assists and one block.
Mines (6-6, 2-5 RMAC) saw Brecca Gaffney lead the pack with 16 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Gallo followed with 15 points. The Orediggers shot .467 from the floor.
