Freshman Jaleesa Russell
The boards got the best of the purple and gold Friday night at a packed UC-Colorado Springs, resulting in WNMU's 17th loss of the season, 67-53. The Mustangs were outrebounded, 53-33, and never held the lead in the contest.

UCCS improved to 7-11 overall and 6-8 in conference play.

Jaleesa Russell (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School) was the top performer for WNMU. She registered 15 points after hitting 5 of 17 shots from the floor. Russell also pitched in with four assists. Christa Kennedy (Soldatna, AK, Soldatna High School) grabbed nine caroms to lead WNMU in the rebounding category.

UCCS's Sammi Gentile posted the game's only double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Lauren Wolfinger led all scorers with 20 points.

Neither team shot extremely well from the floor (WNMU .313, UCCS .394), but UCCS did achieve more success from the free throw line (.833-.529).
