The Mustangs had little problem with New Mexico Highlands University Tuesday night. The purple and gold blasted the Cowgirls in nearly every statistical category, winning in three straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-19).
WNMU held NMHU to just a .062 hitting percentage while they themselves posted a .216 mark.
Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School) leaped out of the gym on her 14 kills and .370 hitting success. She also led the team defensively with 17 pick-ups.
Like Pulu,
Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) also had 14 kills and a well-above average .303 hitting percentage.
Doing much of the setting in the victory was freshman
Alyssa Meihack (Fallon, NV, Churchill County High School). She averaged 11 assists per set, finishing with 33 total.
Jordan Johnston (Boise, ID, Centennial High School) got her mitts on any NMHU attach she could. She recorded one solo block and five block assists while notching nine kills.
The Mustangs looked a bit sluggish in the beginning of the match, falling 8-3 early on in the first. WNMU finally got as break with a Johnston kill and then rallied back to jump ahead 16-12 with He
Heather Rux (Cottonwood, AZ, Mingus Union High School) in the serving position. WNMU had little problem from that point on in the match.
NMHU's offense was limited with all their players posting under seven kills in the match.
