Despite a weary second set, the Mustangs produced huge numbers at the net to get their second conference victory of the season. WNMU defeated UC-Colorado Springs, 3-1 (29-27, 13-25, 25-23, 29-27), with three of the four sets decided by a margin of just two points.
Freshman
Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School) had a stellar night, hitting .312 while producing 20 kills and 17 digs. Fellow outside hitter
Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) was not far behind Pulu with 18 kills.
Besides Pulu, three other Mustangs recorded double figure digs with
Kassie Kagawa (Hilo, HI, Waiakea High School) leading the way with 23.
Marilee Frost (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School) and Alyssa
Alyssa Meihack (Fallon, NV, Churchill County High School) had 16 and 14 digs respectively. Meihack also had 47 assists.
At the net, the Mustangs put the kibosh on the Mountain Lion hitters. WNMU had 11 blocks with Jordan
Jordan Johnston (Boise, ID, Centennial High School) stopping one alone and five others with the help of her teammates.
UCCS' Alex Nuttall posted strong numbers with 13 kills along with 27 digs.
The Mustangs have one more game on the road this weekend. They will take on Metro State tomorrow night. Live stats will be available.
