WNMU continues their road trip troubles. Senior
Justin Williams (Phoenix, AZ, Paradise Valley High School, Phoenix College) was the lone Mustang to score double digits on Thursday night at CSU-Pueblo. His 22 points was not enough to overcome the powerful ThunderWolves in the 82-58 loss. The Mustangs are now 1-10 on the road and 7-12 overall.
The Pack dominated from the beginning, going on a 10-0 run over the first three minutes. Pueblo then held the Mustangs to just two three-point buckets by Williams and four free throws by the rest of the team until the 7:35 mark in the first half. By then, the Pack was leading 24-10 and didn't look back.
WNMU shot only 21.7 percent (5-23) from the field in the first half and 35.2 (19-54) percent overall. Their shooting problems weren't limited to just the field however. The Mustangs hit only 50 percent (15-30) from the charity stripe on the night.
Jeron McIntosh (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva High School) and
Chad Carter (Tucson, AZ, Ironwood Ridge High School) each recorded nine points.
Lucio Luttrell (Las Cruces, NM, Las Cruces High School) and
TJ Riley (Tyler, TX, Chapel Hill High School, Lamar University) chipped in with six apiece. Riley led the team on the boards, grabbing four on the offensive end and five on the defensive side.
For the ThunderWolves, 11 players scored while 14 saw playing time.
