With three consecutive turnovers and down 9-0 to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks to start the game, the Mustangs faced an uphill battle Saturday night. It never got any better. WNMU concluded their season with an 87-67 loss. The Mustangs close out their season with a 7-18 overall record and 7-12 record in conference play.
Playing in her final game,
Audra Major (Socorro, NM, Socorro High School, Midland Community College) finished with 25 points and seven rebounds to lead the team. She was 7 for 12 from the floor and 11-15 from the free throw line.
Shatwa Morris (Las Cruces, NM, Mayfield High School) came off the bench for 12 points and five steals.
Leading all scorers was Fort Lewis' Katie Mackey who was hot from the three-point line. She was 5 for 9 from behind the arc. She finished with 26 points.
As a team, the Mustangs shot 46.0 percent from the floor, their fourth highest of the season. Fort Lewis was slightly better at 47.4 percent. The greatest statistical differences were rebounding and threes. The Skyhawks outrebounded WNMU, 39-28, and hit eight threes compared to WNMU's three.
