Finishing the season with more than one road win is what head coach
Mark Coleman was hoping to do. Their last and only rode win was at Regis University on January 7. It didn't happen Thursday night at Adams State, and WNMU will now have wait until next year to become road warriors. They dropped to 1-13 on the road with a loss to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks Saturday night, 89-51.
WNMU finishes the season with a 10-16 overall record and a 9-10 conference finish.
The Mustangs posted only 18 points in the first half after going 6 for 27 from the floor. The Skyhawks, on the other hand, had no problem finding the bottom on the net. Fort Lewis exploded with 50 points. In the final 12 minutes of the first half, Fort Lewis ran away with a 33-7 scoring frenzy.
Although the Mustangs shot better in the second half, 41.4 percent (12-29), the 32-point deficit of the first 20 minutes was too great.
Jeron McIntosh (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva High School) was the lone Mustang to score double digits. He had 14 points and shot 50 percent from the floor.
Chuck Kempf (Chicago, IL, Lakes High School, Trinidad Junior College) grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team.
Leading all scorers was Fort Lewis' DeAndre Lansdowne with 21 points.
