The Mustangs (3-6 overall, 3-2 RMAC) gave the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves (4-5 overall, 1-4 RMAC) the lead for only 29 seconds Friday night in Silver City. WNMU cruised to a 77-59 victory after solid three-point shooting (.387, 12-31) and selfless passing on the floor.
After an opening three by the ThunderWolves, the Mustangs went on a 7-2 run to snatch the lead quickly and early. The WNMU lead stretched to 23 points with just under six minutes left to play in the first half, but the margin was cut to just 13 with 1:04 left before intermission.

The ThunderWolves cut the lead to eight two separate times midway through the game, but then they got stuck on the number 53 while WNMU went on a 9-0 run. The Mustangs held a double-digit lead the remainder of the game.
WNMU hit 49 percent of their shots along with 12 three-pointers. Riley was 3 for 9 from behind the arc to finish with 20.
Chad Carter (Tucson, AZ, Ironwood Ridge High School) chipped in with two from downtown and six other field goals to post 18 points. Coming off the bench,
Ryan Crane (Anthem, AZ, Boulder Creek High School) was productive in his 14 minutes of play. He finished with 10 points and was 2 for 3 from long range.
Pueblo's Kris Lawrie posted the only double-double of the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
