Shooting Woes In First Half Lead To Loss

Sophomore Lucio Luttrell
WNMU was held to just .167 shooting in the first half and .275 overall Monday night at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The Vulcans ousted the Mustangs, 74-53.

WNMU is now 0-4 on the season but looks to capitalize on what they learned in their very tough non-conference schedule and snag some wins in conference play. They open up the RMAC schedule at home on December 3.

Hilo improves to 3-1 on the season after four people produced 10 or more points against the Mustangs. WNMU's Lucio Luttrell (Las Cruces, NM, Las Cruces High School) was the lone Mustang to do the same. He had 10 points and six rebounds and was 2 for 3 from behind the arc.

In the first half, WNMU had trouble making a shot inside the 3-point line. All five of their field goals in the first 20 minutes were from the arc. They were 0 for 18 everywhere else. The 3-point tactic worked for the first nine minutes. WNMU had the advantage, 12-10. Then Hilo went on a 21-6 lead to close out the half and make the spread to difficult for WNMU to recover in the second.
