Mustangs Conclude Season With Loss

Sophomore Ryan Nolan
The WNMU Mustangs ended the season a bit disappointed but see brighter days in their future. CSU-Pueblo started the game on fire, putting 21 unanswered points on the board in the first quarter, but then the Mustangs rallied to cut the lead to 10 by the half. CSU-Pueblo closed out the game and season with a 21-3 run. The ThunderWolves took the victory, 45-17.

WNMU finishes the season with a 4-7 mark although three losses were well within winning reach. First year head coach Adam Clark gained two more wins than last year's record. With the win, CSU-Pueblo ends its year with a 9-2 mark, equaling the all-time school record win mark set by the 1980 and 1982 teams (9-1 and 9-2, respectively).

WNMU accumulated three interceptions and had one fumble loss but still had a very productive day on offense with 448 yards. The ThunderWolves did slightly better with 470 yards.

Senior quarterback Chris Voller (Albuquerque, NM, Valley High School) threw for 203 yards and one touchdown. Fellow senior Christopher Miranda (Peoria, AZ, Peoria High School, Phoenix Community College) was his main target and produced his best numbers of the season with 116 yards on five receptions.

Also a senior, Kevin Breaker (Stockton, CA, Lincoln High School, Delta College) rushed for 99 yards on 21 carries. His numbers didn't top CSU-Pueblo's Jesse Lewis' though. He put together 185 yards on 20 carries and ran in three touchdowns.

Ryan Nolan (Tempe, AZ, Corona Del Sol High School) led the Mustang defense with 10 tackles. One of his tackles was for a loss of two yards.
