You would have to go back all the way to October 24, 2007 to find when the Western New Mexico volleyball team lost a single set to New Mexico Highlands. Thursday was the same result as the last five face-offs. For the sixth match in a row, the Mustangs skunked the Cowgirls, 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-12).
The second set was the largest winning margin for WNMU this season.
The Mustangs improve to 9-9 overall and 7-6 in RMAC play. NMHU is still searching for their first conference win (0-13) and is 4-18 overall.
Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) had a match-high 18 kills and committed only four errors (.424).
Ziona Verhulsdonk (Kailua, HI, Hawaii Preparatory Academy) had five kills with no errors (.556). As a team, WNMU hit .289 on the night. The second set saw the best showing, hitting .480.
Alyssa Meihack (Fallon, NV, Churchill County High School) dished out 30 assists in the victory with
Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School) passing her most of the balls (11 digs). Meihack also was a force at the net with three solo blocks and two block assists.
NMHU was held to just .044 hitting in the loss.
