Head coach
Jim Callender tried nearly every rotation combination he could think of Thursday night in order to stop the power of Regis University, but the Rangers were much too mighty. They defeated the Mustangs in three straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-20).
WNMU had trouble passing the ball accurately, which resulting in some poor balls given to the purple and gold hitters. WNMU hit only .061 on the night with the second set posting negative attacking numbers (-.082; 8K, 12E, 49 TA).
Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School), who has had hitting numbers constantly above .200, hit only .088 after her 11 kills, eight errors, and 34 total attempts. Her 11 kills still led the Mustangs statistically. Pulu also had a match-high 17 digs.
The Mustangs' blocking is what kept the team in the match. WNMU posted nine blocks with
Jordan Johnston (Boise, ID, Centennial High School) having six block assists.
WNMU continues their homecoming home stand Friday when they take on Colorado Christian at 7:00 p.m.
