Mustangs Can't Hold Off Cameron

The Mustangs fall to 2-3 on the season after dropping their first match at the Abilene Christian University Volleyball Classic Friday afternoon. The Aggies came out on top, 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21).

The Mustangs battled in every set versus Cameron. WNMU was tied or within one or two points when Cameron hit 20 points, but Cameron's Malyssa Acton and Lindsay Paziuk finished set one, two, and four with Cameron kills. The two Aggies combined for 27 kills.

On the Mustang side, freshman Christine Pina (Glendora, CA, Glendora High School) played nearly flawless. She led the team with 13 kills and a .462 hitting percentage. She also had two service aces. Junior Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) accumulated 11 kills and nine digs.

Ellen East (Pomerene, AZ, Benson High School, Yavapai Community College) recorded a season high 38 assists. Marilee Frost (Long Beach, CA, Robert A. Millikan High School) wore the libero jersey for the second week in a row and also posted a season high number. She had 18 digs in the loss.

The Mustangs play again at 5:00 p.m. versus Angelo State University.
