The Western New Mexico University women's basketball team led for much of the first half, but cold shooting (21.2%) versus the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves on Thursday night allowed the Thunderwolves to outscore the Mustangs, 45-20, in the second half. WNMU drops to 8-16 overall and 6-10 in the RMAC after the 69-50 loss.
CSU-Pueblo improves to 17-8 overall and 11-6 in conference play.
Junior
Audra Major (Socorro, NM, Socorro High School, Midland Community College) went 5-for-7 from the floor for 13 points to lead the team.
Krystal Davis (Fort Worth, TX, North Crowley High School, South Plains Junior College) followed with 11 points.
Dana Alexander (Fort Worth, TX, Arlington Heights High School, Kilgore College; East Texas Baptist University) grabbed 11 caroms. Four came on the offensive end.
Ashley Vigil (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School), despite struggling from the shooting category, handed out seven assists.
CSU-Pueblo's Mary Rehfeld led all scorers with 17 points.
The Mustangs shot 33.3 percent from the floor. The Thunderwolves were slightly better at 35.5 percent.
