The WNMU women's basketball team dropped their third game in a row Saturday night. Western State College defeated the Mustangs, 69-65, in Gunnison, Colorado. The victory improves the Mountaineers to 12-11 overall (8-7 RMAC), while the Mustangs fall to 8-15 overall (6-9 RMAC).
WNMU jumped out to their only lead of the game with 10:44 left to play in the first half, but Western State came back to regain the lead with four minutes to play (30-29). The Mountaineers then went on an 8-3 run to push their lead to six at halftime (38-32).
In the second half, Western State never let the Mustangs back into the game as they led by as many as 13 points.
The Mustangs were led by
Krystal Davis (Fort Worth, TX, North Crowley High School, South Plains Junior College) with 17 points. She was followed by
Ashley Vigil (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School), who recorded 14 points and four assists.
Leading the Mountaineers was junior Amber Murray with 29 points and eight rebounds.
