La Jolla, CA -- California State University-San Bernardino ran past Western New Mexico's Women's basketball team 74-57 Saturday night in the second round of the Triton Invitational near San Diego.

The Mustangs trailed by just nine points at the intermission but could not mount a charge in the second half to catch the Coyotes who eventually drew out to the final 17-point margin.

Western fell to 1-7 while the Coyotes improved to 6-3.

Whitney Card and Natalie Lara led WNMU with 13 points each in a game that saw both teams struggle shooting the ball. Western shot just 31 percent from the floor while CSUSB managed just 36 percent. San Bernardino controlled the boards however, as they grabbed 26 more rebounds than Western.

The Lady Stangs will return to Silver City for more RMAC action this week as UC-Colorado Springs comes to town for a Thursday night match up.
