Newell is off to a strong start this spring posting two wins in doubles play and two more in singles action. Against New Mexico Military Institute, she tallied a doubles win at No. 2 with Jeanne Kolb, 8-0. Then playing in the top flight singles match, she rolled to the 6-3, 6-3 victory. In the most recent match this past Wednesday against Eastern Arizona, Newell grabbed the doubles win at No. 3 with Karina Diaz, 8-3, before closing her undefeated start to the spring with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. The Lady Mustangs posted wins in both matches defeating NMMI 9-0 and Eastern Arizona 8-1.
