Khalil was nominated for a HERO Sports Defense/Special Teams Player of the Week award for his performance against UT Permian Basin.

Khalil made a big special teams play on the kickoff against UTPB as he returned an on-side kick 45 yards for a touchdown. He also added three tackles, with two coming solo.

The Mustangs cruised to a 68-17 victory and have won two straight Lone Star Conference games.
