For the second time this season, senior Rodrigo Almeida has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Almeida completed another solid week with a pair of singles and doubles victories. Almeida, the No. 44 ranked singles player in the nation, beat one of the top singles players in the nation in No. 28 Jordan Lyden and the top player in the South Central Region in a three-set battle after dropping the first set, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the top singles flight. He added to that a solid straight set 7-6, 6-4 win over Santiago De La Rosa from Colorado Christian. In doubles with freshman teammate Jean-Laurent Pageault, the duo pulled out wins over Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian at the top flight. They also grabbed a couple of games against Division I New Mexico State earlier in the week.
