Newsome hit the game-winning shot against Regis as she went the length of the floor with just eight seconds left and hit a running jumper with 1.5 seconds to play to lift the Lady Mustangs to a 65-63 win. In that game she tallied 16 points, hitting 8-of-12 from the field and also had five assists and two steals. The next night she added eight points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over Metro State.
