Matthieu Covizzi had a strong week in Abilene this past weekend.
He opened the week with a tough three-set win against McMurry, as he opened with the first set, 6-3 and after dropping the second set, 6-3, he came back to win in a tiebreaker, 7-6. In doubles, he teamed with Jorge Carretero to win at the No. 3 position, 8-2. Against the No. 11 team in the nation and No. 1 team in the region Abilene Christian, he fared well in both his singles and doubles matches. In singles, going against the No. 6 player in the region, he won a first set tiebreaker, 7-6 and then completed the straight set win with a 6-4 second set victory. In doubles with Carretero, they forced their No. 3 match into a tiebreaker before falling, 9-8. He is tied for the most singles wins on the team, going 5-3 at the No. 3 position, while going 3-6 in doubles, 3-5 with Carretero.
