Calvin Bruce

Calvin Bruce, most recently an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Kenyon College, has been named the new Assistant Coach at Western New Mexico University as announced by Head Coach Jim Callender.

"Cal will bring a great energy to the program.  He is very ambitious and an excellent player as well," Callender said. "He is very outgoing and will be a asset to the recruiting here at WNMU.  The entire team is excited he will be joining us this fall."
 
Bruce spent the past season working at Kenyon where he also served as the interim head coach. He was in charge of practice planning, match preparation, recruiting, and strength and conditioning. Prior to that experience he has run several camps throughout Texas and Washington since 2008. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College in 2009 and his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Washington University in 2012.

While pursuing his degree at Eastern Washington, Bruce served as an assistant with the program.  Duties included practice planning, film analysis and statistics.  He also served as a club coach with the APEX Volleyball Academy the past 4 years and the Rivercity VBC.  He has worked with all age divisions from 12 - 18 years old.  He received his USA Volleyball Clinic, Impact Coaching Certification.  He will pursue a Master's Degree in Counseling starting this fall.
