Nicole Luna enters her second season as assistant coach to both men's and women's cross country teams. Luna stayed on to help on the coaching staff following a terrific running career in the purple and yellow.
During her senior season alone, she was named the WNMU Senior Student-Athlete of the Year, while helping lead the women's cross country team to a pair of open race titles at the start of the season. She placed third at the George Kyte Classic with a time of 18:46.4 to help the team to the title and added another top-five finish at the Dave Murray Invitational placing fourth, but ended with a better time of 18:32.96 to help the team to back-to-back victories. She continued her strong start to the season leading the team again in the third race of the season at the NMHU Jamboree finishing second with a time of 18:34.19. She broke the school record in the 6k, only to break her own record at the next meet crossing with a time of 22:45.1 at the UC-San Diego Triton Classic. Racing against the top teams in the nation in the RMAC Championships, Luna just missed claiming an All-RMAC spot coming in 26th. She even ran track in the spring competing in four Invitationals. Â She holds a 3.11 GPA and is majoring in business management. Â
