Bryce Dempsey

Bryce Dempsey enters his first season as Defensive Coordinator at Western New Mexico University, bringing more than a decade of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels.

Dempsey most recently served as a Defensive Analyst at the University of Notre Dame in 2024 before returning to Mercyhurst University in 2025 as linebackers coach and defensive play caller. His collegiate coaching career includes extensive experience at Mercyhurst, where he coached multiple defensive positions and served as special teams coordinator and defensive coordinator. He began his coaching career as a student assistant at Valparaiso University.

Throughout his career, Dempsey has developed elite defensive talent, coaching 15 All-PSAC selections and helping develop Jake Holl, a Division II Don Hansen All-American Honorable Mention and D2Football.com Top 100 player.

A native of Tucson, Arizona, Dempsey played collegiately at Valparaiso University and earned his bachelor’s degree in education. He and his wife, Kerri, have a son, Braxton, and are expecting their second son in July 2026.
