Stutzmann, a native of Garden City, N.Y., spent his high school and collegiate career on the island of Hawaii and enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Mustangs. He will be in charge of the running backs in 2014.
During his college career for the University of Hawaii he played all four years at wide receiver. He completed his career ranking 15th all-time in school history with 1,845 receiving yards and 148 receptions. He also had nine career touchdowns with 27 starts in 44 total games and during his final season he was selected to the Preseason All-Mountain West Third-Team by Phil Steele.
As a junior he led the squad in receptions (35) and yards (447) appearing in 10 games. He ranked 10th in the Mountain West in both receptions per game (3.5) and receiving yards per game (44.7). He had a stellar campaign as a sophomore being named to the All-Western Athletic Conference Second-Team by Phil Steele after playing and starting all 13 games and amassing 910 yards, 78 catches and four scores. He led the team in receptions and was second on the team in yards.
He ended up fifth in the WAC and 36th nationally in receptions per game (6.0) and was seventh in the WAC and 58th nationally in receiving yards per game (70).
