Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – The Western New Mexico University women's basketball had the inevitable task of facing the second-best team in the conference in Fort Lewis College Friday night and after holding an early three-point lead, the Skyhawks came back to win going away, 116-47,  in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action inside Whalen Gym.

Kassie Scott (El Paso, TX/Coronado High School) gave WNMU (0-19, 0-16 RMAC) the early lead as she broke the seal on the game with an early trey forty seconds in off a pass from Desiree Young (North Ogden, UT/Weber High School).

FLC (17-2, 14-1 RMAC) quickly answered back with an 8-0 run over the next minute and a half for an 8-2 lead and a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Morgan Wohltman (Queen Creek, AZ/Highland High School) snapped the run with a jumper on the next Mustang possession to trim the deficit to three, but that would be as close as the Mustangs would get the rest of the way, as another run, this one a 7-0 spurt pushed the lead to double-digits for FLC.

The Mustangs were led by 10 from Sasha Montez (Waianae, HI/Nanakuli High School) off the bench, followed by nine from Desiree Young (North Ogden, UT/Weber High School) and eight from Larissa Loera (Mira Loma, CA/Jurupa Valley High School).

FLC was powered by 24 from Ashley Kuchar, as she made six three-pointers.

WNMU will continue their road trip on Saturday when they will play at Adams State College with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
