Women's Basketball Mauled by Grizzlies, 70-52

WNMU's Amanda Tucker Scored 21 Saturday
Once again Western New Mexico played the perfect host as visiting Adams State had an easy time against the cold-shooting home team in RMAC women's basketball action Saturday night in Silver City. The Grizzlies outscored WNMU by 15 points in the second half to take a 70-52 victory on Drag's Court. It was WNMU's 20th loss of the season against one win while ASC improved to 14-8 (9-7 RMAC).

As has been a common theme this season, WNMU's shooting percentage didn't reach 30 for the game as the Stangs found the basket just .299 percent of the time. Adams State turned in a solid mark of just under 57 percent from the floor.

The Grizzlies also owned the glass thanks to WNMU's poor marksmanship, seizing a 53-20 rebounding advantage. In reality, the only disappointing stat for the visitors was they were forced into 26 turnovers by the WNMU defense.

Amanda Tucker (Las Cruces, NM, Mayfield High School) led the Mustang scoring for the second straight night, notching 21 points while teammate Jaleesa Russell (Albuquerque, NM, Sandia High School)added 12.

The Grizzlies got 24 points each of Kelsie Kruger and Vera Jo  Bustos. Those two accounted for 70 percent of the scoring for the visitors.

The Mustangs get another weekend at home next week as Western State and Mesa State head for Silver City.
