Jack L. Willey is from the hometown of Deming, New Mexico and graduated from WNMU in 1978 with a degree in physical education and a minor in math.
While at WMNU, Willey was team captain of the track team three years, high point man four years, and team Most Valuable Player three years. In 1977, Willey set WNMU track records for the pole vault at 15-6 and long jump at 23-9¾. Willey also set RMAC records that same year with a pole vault of 14-6 and long jump of 23-6.
During Willey’s last year at WNMU, he went to nationals in track as a decathlete and place fourth in the nation.
