Do you have athletic scholarships?

5842Coach Beatty says:

"Yes! WNMU, like many Division II schools, offers partial athletic scholarships. Of course, a partial scholarship means that you would be responsible for a significant portion of the cost of your college education (rooms, meals and books), but at $20,000 per year, WNMU is affordable.

Typically, recruited incoming freshmen receive 30-50 percent of their tuition and that number grows throughout their four years as their scores go down and their GPA goes up. It's not unusual for Seniors and top Juniors to receive full tuition, fees and some room and board money. .

I will also say that some of our most successful players were walk-ons as freshmen. In fact, our #1 and #2 players of all time came on academic scholarships as compared to golf. Of course after solid freshmen years, they got golf money, Don't let the word "walk-on" scare you away. You will be given a shot to get on the course.

The school offers wonderful academic packages that can be stacked on top of golf scholarships, particularly if you apply early. If you have a strong GPA ond ACT or SAT score, WNMU is aggressive in trying to get you here, but you have to submit application before December 1 and our high school transcript and test scores by Feb 1. generally.

In case you don't know, the NCAA limits the amount of scholarships schools can give per sport. In Division II golf, it’s 3.6 full scholarships (tuition, room, board and books) for men and 5.4 full scholarships (tuition, room, board and books) for women.

Of course, I understand that everyone wants a 'full-ride,' like their football and basketball buddies, but they are essentially non-existent in D2 golf. If there are 10 members on a team and 3.6 scholarships, you can do the math on how much a scholarship can be. Please remember this fact when your buddies they are on a full-ride, as that might be full tuition, which is much more common, particularly in men's golf."
