Junior second baseman
Ashly Eichenberger (Scottsdale, AZ, Horizon High School, Central Arizona College) was named to the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. All-Central Region First Team. She will automatically advance to the All-America ballot. This was Eichenberger's second First Team selection of the year. She was rewarded with a RMAC First Team All-Conference selection earlier in the month.
Adams State College's sophomore outfielder Katelyn Lovato was named the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. Softball Central Region Player of the Year while Wayne State College's (Neb.) senior pitcher Katie Goetzinger tabbed the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. Softball Central Region Pitcher of the Year honors.
Eichenberger was the Mustangs' second best offensive player. With a batting average of .367, she led the team in doubles with 15. She was second on the team in hits (66), runs (42), homeruns (tied, 14), on base percentage (.434) and total bases (125). She was third on the team in RBIs (47) and slugging percentage (.694) as well. Defensively, she had 124 putouts and 96 assists.
In batting average, doubles, hits, homeruns, total bases, and RBIs, Eichenberger ranked in the top 10 in the RMAC.
The composition of the All-Region squads were two teams (1st and 2nd) comprised of 13 persons based on position breakdown (1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 3 OF, 1 DP, 1 UT, 3 P). The regional Player and Pitcher of the Year (separate ballots) were also selected by the sports information directors of each school in the region.
