While at the NCAA Championship in Alamonte Springs, Florida, the WNMU men's and women's tennis teams were recognized for their stellar accomplishments throughout the year. Headlining the awards was head coach Erik Burton. He received Wilson/ITA Central Region Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
Also on the coaching staff and receiving honors was assistant coach Carolina Hannes. She was named the Central Region Men's Tennis Assistant Coach of the Year. Hannes graduated this spring with her master's degree.
On the women's side,
Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale), a junior, was named the Central Region Player to Watch.
Yair Banuelos (Mexico City, Mexico, Universidal del Valle de Mexico, Riverside Community College) and
Emmanuel Mensah (Accra, Ghana, ITF Center Home, Mt. San Jacinto College) represented the men's team. Banuelos, who has now exhausted his eligibility, was the Senior Player of Year for the region. Mensah was tabbed the Central Region Player to Watch.
