Women's basketball student-athlete Christa Kennedy (Soldatna, AK, Soldatna High School) and women's cross country student-athlete Cassandra Sanchez (Acoma Pueblo, NM, Laguna Acoma High School) were awarded the RMAC Degree Completion Award, the conference announced today. This scholarship award was available to student-athletes who have completed their eligibility and desire to complete their degree.

Both Kennedy and Sanchez received $2,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Applications were reviewed by the RMAC Degree Completion Awards committee, which includes the RMAC Academic Committee and two faculty athletics representatives, nominated by the conference FAR Council. Decisions regarding the awards were be based on the application and supporting documents. Grade point average was not considered.

The criteria for application were as follows:

Student-athletes must have completed their eligibility.

Student-athletes were required to meet the graduation requirements of their institution in the year of the award. The year of the award is from August to August.

Student-athletes submitted a typed completed award application that includes a list of remaining coursework required for graduation, a letter of recommendation, as well as signatures from his/her academic advisor and the faculty athletics representative.
