Gentry Becomes A Mustang

Head Coach Scott Woodard
The Mustangs announced the signing of another softball player Monday. Head coach Scott Woodard welcomes Ricki Gentry of Lakeside, California to his 2010-2011 roster.

Graduating from Christian High School this spring, Gentry, 5-5, will fill an outfielder spot along with some throwing opportunities. So far this season she has posted a .507 batting average while batting in 35 runs. Both of these are good for second on the team. She is ranked number one in on base percentage (.600), slugging percentage (.851), hits (34), and runs (39).

Gentry's numbers were equally as impressive in 2009. She was named all-league, second team all-division, and second team all-Eastern San Diego.

“Ricki is the second San Diego player we have signed this year, and she will figure right in next year's plans,” says Woodard. “She is a two-way player that hits from the left side, which is what we have been trying to add for next year. She is a first-class young lady and comes from a great family.”

Gentry, who has been named all-academic three years in a row, will come to WNMU as a biology major.
