Huhta Named RMAC Pitcher of the Week

Junior Emily Huhta
For the second time this month, the Mustang softball team earned RMAC Player of the Week honors. Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) earned this award two weeks ago for her hitting and catching. This time, however, it was for pitching. Junior Emily Huhta (Albuquerque, NM, Manzano High School, Lamar Community College) received this week's pitching award, the RMAC announced today.

Huhta pitched in six of the Mustangs seven games last week against New Mexico Highlands and Nebraska-Kearney, earning a 2-1 record with two saves. In the last game of the NMHU home series, Huhta fanned a week-high nine batters in her six innings in the circle. She finished her six games with a 2.62 earned run average and allowed 10 runs (seven earned) on 17 hits in 18.2 innings of work with 18 strikeouts.
