WNMU sophomore softball student-athlete
Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) has been named the RMAC Softball Player of the Week.
Barnes has eight homeruns on the year after she knocked out six last week in two four-game home series against Chadron State and UC-Colorado Springs. Against the Eagles on March 9-10, Barnes went 9 for 15 at the plate with five runs scored, five runs batted in, two home runs, a stolen base, 19 putouts, one assist, and one fielding error. In the weekend series against the Mountain Lions, she collected seven hits, six runs, 11 RBI, four homeruns, a stolen base, 21 putouts, and an assist. In game two on Sunday, Barnes was a perfect 3 for 3, and all three hits were home runs. She posted a batting average of .615 (16-26), drove in 16 runs, scored 11 times, stole two bases, and notched one error on 43 attempts.
