Senior
Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) has been placed on the RMAC Volleyball All-Academic Team for the third year in a row. As a sophomore, she earned her way onto the first team. Last year and now this year, she has been honored with a spot on the second team. Murdock's teammates,
Jordan Johnston (Boise, ID, Centennial High School),
Heather Rux (Cottonwood, AZ, Mingus Union High School), and
Amber Gardner (Ruidoso, NM, Ruidoso High School), were also recognized and placed on the RMAC Honor Roll.
Murdock has played every match and every set so far this season. Averaging 4.02 kills per set, she has made her presence known on the outside. She currently leads the RMAC in kills per set. Murdock also averages 4.53 points per set when you take into account kills, service aces, and blocks to conference in this category. The senior leads the team in service aces. She has posted 15 so far this season.
Murdock is a nursing major and has a 3.62 grade point average.
Jordan Johnston (Boise, ID/Centennial High School), like Murdock, has played every match and set this season. She averages 1.15 kills from the middle blocker position while leading the team with 58 blocks or 0.94 blocks per set. Johnston is undecided in her major and has a 3.52 GPA.
Rux, who has rotated from middle blocker to outside hitter throughout the season, has seen time in every match and set this season. She averages 1.26 kills and 0.63 blocks per set. Rux has the highest GPA of all four Mustangs honored. She holds a 3.91 GPA and is undecided on her major.
Gardner, who is also undecided in her major, carries a 3.52 GPA. She has seen limited time on the court this season but still averages 0.94 digs per set.
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to volleyball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of volleyball selected first and second teams. A setter and defensive specialist were required on each ballot.
