Five Mustangs Earn Academic Awards

For the first time in his collegiate career, Chris Voller (Albuquerque, NM, Valley High School) earned a spot on the RMAC Football All-Academic Second Team. Teammates Byron Reischl (Sierra Vista, AZ, Tombstone High School, Grand Canyon University)Matt Baxter (Litchfield Park, AZ, Desert Edge High School)Jarret Yargus (Bagdad, AZ, Bagdad High School), and Zach Roberts (Tucson, AZ, Sahuaro High School) were placed on the Academic Honor Roll.

Voller has thrown for 1239 yards (95-191-8) so far this season. His top performance of the year was in the non-conference match-up at Sul Ross. He threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He followed that performance up with a 303-yard day in the home opener loss to Fort Lewis.

Despite throwing eight interceptions so far this season, Voller started the first two games of the season without one. He averages 177.9 total offensive yards per game and has a passing efficiency of 106.22.

Voller has excelled in the classroom over his four years as a Mustang. Majoring in kinesiology, he maintains a 3.61 GPA.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.30 or better, be a starter or key reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to football season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of football selected first and second teams.
