Senior Audra Major (Socorro, NM, Socorro High School, Midland Community College) and sophomore Amanda Tucker (Las Cruces, NM, Mayfield High School) were both placed on the RMAC Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll Wednesday afternoon. This is Major and Tucker's first award of the season.

Major started off the season slow but got back into form when the Mustangs hit their conference schedule. During the first six games of the season, Major averaged only 7.2 points per game while yanking down 5.5 rebounds in her 23.3 minutes of play. The Mustangs were 0-6 in their non-conference matchups. Since entering the conference schedule in early December, Major has averaged 18.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. She also has seen nearly 10 more minutes of play each game. The Mustangs are now 4-3 in the RMAC.

Major, overall, leads the team in points (13.1) and rebounds (7.6) per game. She has shot .430 from the field and .800 from the free throw line.

Major plans to earn a degree in movement science and has earned a 3.34 GPA.

Tucker kicked off the school year with an injury and has played in only eight of the 13 games this season as a result. She has put in quality minutes, though, in those games, averaging 22 minutes and 3.6 points a game. She also has grabbed a total of 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

Tucker is majoring in secondary education. She started the basketball season with a 3.31 GPA.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their GPA is what they had earned prior to basketball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of women's basketball selected First and Second Team Academic All-RMAC.
