Three WNMU Mustangs from the men's golf team were named to the Division II PING All-Central Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of American announced late Wednesday. Junior
Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland, Inverkeithing High School), freshmen
Joon Lee (Seoul, South Korea, Guildford Park Secondary) and
Gordon Webb (Malta, MT, Malta High School) were three out of 12 student-athletes in the region to receive the award.
Crichton was recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Six College Division Men's At-Large First Team. His other awards throughout the season were a unanimous First Team selection for the RMAC All-Academic Team, RMAC Men's Golf All-Academic Player of the Year, RMAC All-Tournament Team, and the All-RMAC First Team.
This year Crichton posted eight separate tournament scores of +5 or better. His best tournament came at the beginning of the season at the first RMAC event. He finished -4 and placed second. He also recorded a season high 13 birdies. Overall, Crichton averaged 73.94 strokes this season along with a total of 83 birdies and six eagles.
Webb earned a spot on the All-RMAC Third Team in April. The freshman competed in 11 tournaments for WNMU in 2008-2009, finishing with a stroke average of 75.66. His best finish came at the RMAC #3 event where he placed tied for ninth. Webb had four top-10 finishes and posted 76 birdies and one eagle.
Lee's best placement came at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational when he shot his lowest round of the season, a 69, and finished tied for sixth after shooting -8. At that same tournament, he recorded 15 birdies. He finished his first year of collegiate competition with 71 birdies and a 75.76 average score.
