Garcia Gets Two Nods On All-RMAC List

Sophomore Salvador Garcia
Sophomore Salvador Garcia (Anthony, TX, Anthony High School) was a very versatile player for the WNMU football team. As the team's number one punt return, number one kick returner, and one of the team's leading receivers, Garcia's efforts paid off as he was listed on the 2009 All-RMAC Football teams twice.

Garcia earned nods on the Second Team – Special Teams for his work as a kick returner. He averaged 26.7 yards each return this season to lead the conference. Overall, Garcia had 26 returns for 695 yards. He also was named to the Third Team – Special Teams for his punt return effort. In this category, he posted a 16.6 yard average for a total of 216 yards. He finished the season with 1334 all-purpose yards to rank him third in the RMAC.

Also receiving accolades from the RMAC was quarterback Dennis Havrilla (North Concord, CA, Mt. Diablo High School, University of Nebraska - Kearney), wide receiver Scotty Crespin (Socorro, NM, Socorro High School), and offensive lineman Kendall Price (Pearl City, HI, Pearl City High School, Mt. San Antonio College). All three were placed on the Third Team – Offense. Each was instrumental in the Mustangs putting up solid numbers on the scoreboard nearly each game. As a team, WNMU averaged 29.5 points per game, fourth in the conference. In 2008, the team averaged only 22 points per game.

Starting every game this season, Havrilla threw for 1581 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also tacked on six more touchdowns in the rushing category. He concluded his final season of play with a 115.86 passing efficiency.

Crespin played in every game this season as well. He averaged 11.3 yards per catch for 44.5 yards per game. His best game came against Mesa State when he had seven receptions for 91 yards. He finished the season with two touchdowns.
