Western New Mexico University's Audra Major (Socorro, NM/Socorro High School) (Socorro, NM) has been named to the RMAC Women's Basketball First Team All-Academic team, the RMAC announced Wednesday.
The two-time RMAC West Division Player of the Week is averaging 18.7 points in her 35:33 minutes a game. Each tops the RMAC rankings. Major is second in the conference in rebounding with 10.7 board per game. Almost five of those boards come at the offensive end. Overall, she is shooting .511 percent from the floor and .827 from the charity stripe.
Major has posted seven double-doubles so far this season. Her best game came on WNMU's home court versus Grand Canyon University. She recorded 25 points and 18 rebounds in the victory.
To be eligible the student athlete must be a starter or key reserve, have a 3.2 or above GPA, complete two semesters prior to the beginning of the season, and be selected by the RMAC's Sports Information Directors.
